Tomorrow is the day we've all been waiting for

Old Man Trev has embraced the podcast and now he’s publishing his inaugural Blog!!

It's Saturday the 22nd May and I can't relax, I can't focus on anything and at 58 years old I'm as excited as a small child in a toy shop.

Why am I so excited? Why can't i stop singing “So Paddy got up and he sung it again”, or “Sweet Caroline”?

The answer is simple, for the first time in well over a year, I'm off to the Emirates stadium tomorrow, to watch the mighty Arsenal.

I've done the Mrs head in all day, talking about meeting up with mates I've not seen for ages and having a few beers!

You see.... Going to football, as most fans will know, is not just about the game. It's about so much more. It's about meeting friends who all want to talk about the same subject as you. Friends who all have a passion for our great club, friends who all have that special bond that only football fans have.

Tomorrow's game against Brighton is not just another game. It's the last game of the season, but it's also the first game of the season for us fans attending.

It also carries the importance of seeing us finish above that mob down the road, and qualifying for the newly created Europa conference league, if results go our way. People have been belittling the new European competition, and it's clearly obvious that we would prefer to see our team play at a higher level in Europe. But we haven't been good enough to qualify and play at that higher level, so we should accept what we get.

If we do end up playing in the new conference, I would urge our fans to support our great club wherever we play. There is of course the big “if”, in that we need to beat Brighton and have other results go our way.

The Mrs has just now come into the room and asked what all the clothes I have got out of the wardrobe are for? I explained that these are my clothes for the morning and I'm ready to go. She has, for about the tenth time today, rolled her eyes at me again.

I'll be having an early night shortly, got to be on the ball in the morning!

I hope all Arsenal fans will let our owner know how unhappy we are with them tomorrow, it is so important that we keep getting the message across that we want Arsenal people, with the club at heart, to own our amazing football club.

But once the game starts, every single one of us privileged ten thousand in the stadium, must get soundly and loudly behind our team. The players need our support and we must make every effort to lift them to victory.

See you all tomorrow hopefully.

Up the mighty Arsenal

Love Hillsy the gooner (the old man).
