A thoroughly enjoyable Thursday.
After what seemed like an age, we were finally back in action. A trip to Wolverhampton on a Thursday may not be appealing to some, but to travelling fans of The Arsenal, it was an overdue, eagerly anticipated away day.
We checked into our cracking little hotel near the ground at about 1-55pm, and by 2pm the first beers of the day were being consumed.
As you can imagine, by kick off time, we were all slightly the worse for wear!
The game itself was an absolute pleasure to watch. A committed Arsenal side, playing their hearts out and battling for the badge.
A scrambled goal saw us go 1 nil up and then we saw a fantastic defensive performance keep it that way until the final whistle.
“One nil to The Arsenal”
Where have I heard that before?
The referee, as is becoming the norm, did his best to ruin our day.
But this Arsenal team didn’t lay down and roll over. The commitment levels actually increased, and an inspired substitution saw Holding come on the field for the last 20 minutes, and play superbly.
At the final whistle, the players and the fans celebrated together, and it was great to see the passion shown both on and off the pitch.
After leaving the stadium, the pubs were very busy. So a return straight to our hotel bar was made, and very welcoming they were too.
More beer was consumed as we talked all things Arsenal, into the early hours.
Now just to nurse this hangover through a 3 hour train journey!
